Disposable Medical Aprons - Materials & Construction
We stock a wide variety of disposable medical aprons in different materials, sizes, and colours for clinical PPE use.
Our disposable clinical aprons are manufactured from fluid-resistant polyethylene (PE) — a lightweight, durable material that serves as an effective barrier against cross-contamination risk in a clinical setting. The material is flexible and comfortable against the body, allowing full freedom of movement during patient care and clinical environments.
In our range, we stock these clinical aprons in white, black, clear, and other colours. Ideal for use in aged care, hospitals, GP clinics, dental practices, and home care environments.
Each apron is latex-free, easy to don, and features a halter neck and adjustable waist tie design to accommodate a wide range of body sizes. They provide full torso coverage without restricting movement, making them safe for patients and staff with latex sensitivity.
Available in both individually folded and roll-dispensed formats to suit high-volume environments and mobile applications.
For those seeking sustainability, we also stock reusable plastic aprons, ideal for non-sterile environments where laundering is impractical.

How to Don and Remove a Disposable Apron Safely
Following correct donning and doffing procedures is essential to preventing cross-contamination during PPE use. Use this protocol as a guide for clinical and care settings:
Step 1: Select and Inspect
Select the correct apron for the task. Check the apron for any tears, holes, or defects before use. Discard and replace any damaged aprons.
Step 2: Don the Apron
Place the neck loop over your head and position the apron to fully cover the front of your body. Tie or secure the waist ties firmly at the back to ensure the apron stays in place throughout the task.
Step 3: Perform the Task
Complete the clinical or care task. Avoid touching your face or other surfaces unnecessarily while wearing the apron.
Step 4: Remove the Apron (Doffing)
Once the task is complete, remove the apron by pulling it away from the body — fold the contaminated outer surface inward as you remove it to contain any contaminants. For tear-away aprons, snap the neck and waist ties and fold immediately.
Step 5: Dispose and Hand Hygiene
Dispose of the used apron in the appropriate clinical waste bin. Perform hand hygiene immediately after removal with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Find answers to common questions about disposable medical aprons, including materials, compliance, and suitable applications in healthcare and aged care environments.
What are medical disposable aprons made from?
Our disposable clinical aprons are made from fluid-resistant polyethylene (PE), providing lightweight yet effective protection against splashes, spills, and contaminants encountered in healthcare and aged care environments.
Are these aprons single-use or reusable?
Our standard disposable aprons are designed for single use only to maintain hygiene and prevent cross-contamination, a critical requirement in clinical infection control protocols. For non-sterile, lower-risk tasks, we also offer reusable plastic aprons suitable for laundering.
What compliance standards do the aprons meet?
Our disposable medical aprons comply with Australian infection control protocols and general-purpose PPE barrier requirements for clinical use. For facilities subject to TGA oversight or AS/NZS infection control standards, our aprons meet Level 1 clinical barrier requirements. Contact our team if you require specific compliance documentation for your facility's procurement process.
Are bulk or volume orders available for facilities?
Yes. Alpha Medical Solutions offers bulk ordering options for hospitals, aged care providers, GP clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Contact our team to discuss volume pricing, scheduled deliveries, and facility account setup.
Are the aprons suitable for food handling in clinical settings?
Yes. Disposable plastic aprons are widely used in clinical food service areas, patient meal assistance, and kitchen environments within healthcare facilities, where they help maintain hygiene and prevent cross-contamination during food preparation and service.
